A daughter of former Homestead Mayor Lynda Bell turned herself in to authorities this week to face a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
The charge against Jenna Maldonado, 28, stems from a fight on Super Bowl Sunday after she threatened her live-in boyfriend with a gun, according to an arrest affidavit.
Bell, who lost a contentious mayoral election in November, said the charge against her daughter is ``a purely political vendetta.''
The Homestead police officers union, a branch of the Dade County Police Benevolent Association, endorsed now-Mayor Steven Bateman over Bell in the Nov. 3 election.
John Rivera, president of the Police Benevolent Association, denied Bell's accusation.
``I think her statement is ludicrous at best,'' he said Wednesday. ``It has no validity.''
Maldonado is a Homestead reserve police officer.

it's typical of Lynda to claim that she and/or her family are the victims in anything negitive that they get caught doing.
It is called deflection. That is never admit you are wrong or take blame. Deflection is also deeper it is the act of blaming or accusing someone of doing the very same bad acts that you are doing so when the other person points out that you in fact are the wrongdoer, it does not carry the impact
with daughters like her's she really shouldn't be in any kind of public office. I myself would just go crawl under a rock. But for Lynda that would be returning to her roots. Do us a favor Lynda Bell and GO AWAY!

Her daughter pulled a gun in front of numerous people and Lynda feels that her arrest is " a purely political vendetta"???? What in the world does she think should have happened? Whaaa Whaaa Whaaa
Who at the Herald does she have bamboozled ? A whole article devoted to how her daughter was scting in self defense and this is all politically motivated ! What part of a policewoman pulled a gun on an unarmed man sitting in a car does she not understand ? Again, the important story is the one about how the Mayors daughter got in the academy ahead of others. I betcha there is a former HPD Captain who paid for that with his job. How many bodies are you going ot leave in your wake, Ms. Bell ?
My guess it's Tania Valdemoro, She has been told the truth when asked, (I know Tania from the campaign) and she still wrote a bunch of lies, knowing that it was NOT the truth.
I don't know why she bothered to ask us at the Bateman camp the truth in the first place. She never intended to write what we said.
Its almost as if she is working for bell. I think She must be friends with or went to school with one of the Bell girls.

I don't read the herald anymore because of her. If she lies about a good man like Bateman what else is she lying about???

Lynda Bell is going to eat her words both about her daughter and about being the Mayor who had the most integrity and honesty as she pronounced as she was leaving the Mayors seat for the LAST time. The texts say otherwise and soon everyone will know the real you, Ms Bell, not the contrived version.
If someone has to profess the fact that they have more integrity, are the most honest, has to always throw in that religious crutch, makes you wonder why they have to be so convincing to others?
If that is who you are people can see it, you don't have to shout it from the roof tops.
